Izhar Cohen & The "Alpha-Beta" - A-BA-NI-BI - Israel

1977 1978  1979

The Eurovision Song Contest 1978 was the twenty third Eurovision and was held on April 22, 1978 in Paris. With Denise Fabre and Léon Zitrone as the presenters, the contest was won by Izhar Cohen & the Alphabeta who represented Israel, with their song "A-Ba-Ni-Bi". The winning entry is a love song sung in the Hebrew equivalent of Pig Latin. Translating the translation of the title it's rendered "I love you" in English. This was Israel's first Eurovision win. Jahn Teigen, Norway, was the first artist to achieve 0 points in the contest after the current voting system was introduced. (And later the same year he released his album This Year's Loser.) Each country awarded 12, 10, 8-1 points to their 10 favourite songs.  Source: Wikipedia
